WARREN PARK'S ANNUAL
WINTER*FEST
WINTER*FEST
The urban planning focused community gathering with a goal:
Winterfest 2024 is cancelled due to a lack of snow. We'll see you at the next Winterfest on Saturday Feb. 1st 2025!
In the meantime, check out these great moments from 2023's Winter(Safety)Fest.
DESIGN CHALLENGE SITE WALK
Urban Land Institute volunteer Alex Brograntz (Business Director at EveryUrban) will lead our Urban Planning Design Challenge Site Walk for students interested/registered, providing insight on the project. The site walk will end at the historic Lambton House by 2pm.
OUTDOOR FAMILY FUN
Music Coach Sarah Saskin will be kicking off our outdoor programming with an all-ages friendly song circle. We'll follow with loose parts ice and wood building for little ones, an outdoor friendly winter craft and mystery snow equipment lessons and race.
URBAN PLANNING HUB
This historic York building will be transformed into an Urban Planning Hub where students and community will gather, attend mini-sessions from 2:00-4:00pm and mix and mingle over food and non-alcoholic beverages.
Alex Brogantz will share what he has learned from connecting developers, architects, communities and cities through an online challenge based platform. His wisdom will guide students to develop and submit competitive projects to challenges like our Urban Planning Design. This round table session will allow plenty of time for questions. Students, parents, and community welcomed.
Elisabeth Van Rensburg will give a historical look at the development of what is now known as Warren Park, and the roads within it. Elisabeth will be sharing photos and knowledge from Heritage York's archives.
Sneha Mandhan takes on a journey to understand how everyone experiences cities in very different ways based on their histories, lived experiences, and identities. Through an individual neighbourhood mapping exercise, we will draw maps of your neighbourhood that highlight places that are important to you.
